Barbara Cutter is an Instructor Trainer Educator for the ACA in flatwater and river kayaking and canoeing. She is also a USCA certified canoeing instructor and a long time American Red Cross Instructor Trainer Educator in Water Safety, Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR. She is a member of Texas Canoe Racing Association and competes in marathon kayak and canoe races throughout Texas and Louisiana. In June 2003 she and Chris Gross finished the 262 mile Texas Water Safari. In 2010 she and Debbie Carpenter broke the Adventure Class women's record for the 100 mile Colorado River 100 Race. In addition to conducting classes and guiding trips for Cutter Aquatics she has taught kayaking for Tarrant County College, is a Master Educator for Leave No Trace national outdoor ethics education programs and enjoys membership in the Texas Outdoor Women's Network. As a volunteer, Ms. Cutter works with the Red River Division of the ACA; chairs communications for the North Texas River Runners; and is a master trainer of volunteers for Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, Inc.
Chris Gross, an ACA and American Red Cross Certified Instructor, has been conducting classes with Cutter Aquatics since 2000. She is a member of the Texas Canoe Racing Association, and USCA. She is a Leave No Trace Master Educator and competes in kayak and canoe races in Texas and the southeast. Chris is an experienced trip leader who guides groups with quiet confidence and a very enjoyable sense of humor
Rusty Branch, started with Cutter Aquatics as a canoe and kayak instructor in 2007 and is currently on call for our summer classes. He is certified by the American Canoe Association to teach river kayaking as well as classes on our North Texas lakes. He has enjoyed canoeing and kayaking for nearly 30 years with experience on many lakes and rivers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Steve Walls is an expert sea-kayaker bringing open water experience from the Pacific Northwest. The owner of Discover Kayaks, Steve often contracts to teach Cutter Aquatics classes. We are lucky to share his talents. Steve became an American Canoe Association certified instructor in 2006, completed his Level 3 Costal Instructor certification and in 2010 and then quickly become an Instructor Trainer for the ACA. He enjoys kayak fishing on our north Texas Lakes and plans frequent trips to the Gulf coast to kayak surf.
Lorraine McPhee knows how to put FUN in the fundamentals. Her passion for learning makes her a creative and effective teacher. You will see her regularly at Rio Vista Park on the San Marcos River, but she loves to head east to the Nantahala Outdoor Center and on the Ocoee River. Cutter Aquatics is thrilled when she has can teach for us. She brings solid white water kayaking basics to our classes. Lorraine is an American Canoe Association certified instructor.
